MEET CASSIDIE AND HER DAD, JOHN.
Cassidie Carmen is a certified grief support specialist, a researcher specializing in grief and bereavement policy, and the Founder of Soul Executor. Her work is shaped by a core belief: people most impacted by systems should inform how those systems are designed.
After the sudden passing of her dad, John, Cassidie became the sole executor of his estate at 25. In the middle of deep grief, she was also responsible for decisions, documents, deadlines, and responsibilities that were confusing, time-sensitive, and emotionally loaded. That experience became the foundation for her research and, ultimately, the reason Soul Executor exists.
why this company exists
“While grieving my dad, alone, at 25 years old, my life became a full-time job of carrying out all of the instructions that my dad proactively left, and navigating all the big decisions as best as I could.
My dad was a phenomenally organized person - not only did he create a binder for me with all the estate documents, but he included everything I’d need, from the Netflix passwords to the name and number of the realtor he’d pre-selected to sell his home. I imagine how emotional it must have been for him to curate this binder - as it fully acknowledged the inevitable. I feel this binder is an act of love… a gift of ongoing support that my dad has been able to provide me from beyond.
As sole executor, I also learned what cannot be planned for…”
